Experience in Action

Our record is built on serious cases against serious employers. Below is a selection of recent matters and client reflections that demonstrate our commitment to radical transparency and veteran advocacy in Maryland employment litigation.

Recent Cases

Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland (2025)

Nagy v. Montgomery County Public Schools

Fortis is currently challenging one of Maryland’s largest employers for failing to accommodate a disabled professional. After an eight-month delay in granting modest telework, we are forcing the court to recognize that silence is a denial—and a violation of the law.

Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland (2026)

Whiston v. Charles County, Maryland

Fortis is currently litigating a complex hostile work environment matter against Charles County. The lawsuit alleges that after a senior employee committed sexual assault, the County engaged in illegal retaliation by subjecting the victim to unwarranted disciplinary action. We are forcing a transparent accounting of the County’s institutional response.

Federal District Court for the District of Maryland (2025)

Sanchez-Lozada v. Sysco Baltimore

Fortis is litigating a race and national origin discrimination claim against a major logistics corporation involving the termination of a high-performing Vice President. This case challenges the use of "performance improvement plans" (PIPs) as a pretext for bias. We are proving that discriminatory scrutiny—which ignores a history of record-breaking results—is a violation of Maryland and federal law.
