Biography

Shelby Crahan is a Law Clerk at Fortis Employment Law, where she works on plaintiff-side employment matters involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination. She supports litigation strategy and case development as the firm advocates for employees facing unlawful treatment in the workplace.


Shelby’s commitment to workers’ rights developed during law school, where she focused her studies and advocacy on civil rights and employment-related issues. Through The George Washington University Law School’s Public Justice and Advocacy Clinic, she represented clients in matters involving employment disputes and administrative proceedings, gaining firsthand experience advocating for individuals navigating complex legal systems. 


Before joining Fortis, Shelby worked with a firm handling employment matters across Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. In that role, she contributed to active litigation matters, conducted legal analysis of employment claims, and worked directly with clients seeking relief from workplace violations.  


Shelby earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Christopher Newport University, where she served as Co-President of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and was active in student government and Model United Nations.  


Shelby is currently awaiting admission to the Maryland Bar.

Her experience includes assisting with employment litigation, evaluating potential claims under federal and state workplace laws, and supporting clients as they navigate disputes with their employers. She has worked on matters involving employees across Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia, providing her with a strong foundation in the legal frameworks that protect workers throughout the region
